“I turned and looked again, and I screamed out, “O God, what would You have Your servant know?” Just then the Spirit of the Lord came in and said, “Jesus of the New Testament is Jehovah of the Old..” 1961-0827 - The Message Of Grace—William Branham
“as that great Voice spoke yonder that day, a few weeks ago, standing by the side, as I was crossing over that log, around the tree, and that Spirit that came down through them treetops and said, “Jesus of the New Testament is Jehovah of the Old.” 1961-1112 - A True Sign That's Overlooked—William Branham
“And I drew up close and took off my hat, laid down my rifle, got up there. And a Voice shook the woods, said, “Jesus of the New Testament is Jehovah of the Old.” 1964-0719E - Going Beyond The Camp—William Branham
“Immediately after that, the Lord Jesus appeared to us. And right then I heard a Voice that said, “The Jehovah of the Old Testament is Jesus of the New.” And there He was, after a while, revealed after those Seven Golden Candlesticks. I wrote it on the back of a—of a box of—of cartridges I had in my pocket. “Jehovah of the Old Testament is Jesus of the New.” God in Heaven knows that that was true.” 1965-0822E - A Thinking Man's Filter —William Branham
Although both men understood this statement differently (the which neither are correct), it is worth noting that Harry Ironside’s commentary was published in 1920 without any reference to having heard a “great voice” that “shook the woods” (and so on). Much later, William Branham “heard” the verbatim words—supposedly fresh manna, as it were, by a private and dramatic personal appearance of the Lord Jesus. Perhaps (and most likely) the reality was that William Branham was simply repeating from his extensive reading and gleaning of other men (as was his habit). The same information he usurped as his personal “divine revelations,” said to come by way of visitations from “the Pillar of Fire,” “the Angel,” “the Lord Jesus,” “visions,” etc.. O the imagination and sensational storytelling of William Branham. They would rival the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, only William Branham’s fictional tales exploited hallowed things for the purpose of self-aggrandizement and gain.
