"AND THE SIGN OR THE WONDER COME TO PASS..."
Hear ye! Hear ye!
“AND THE SIGN OR THE WONDER COME TO PASS…”
Deut 13:1 If there arise among you a [false] prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth thee to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
In regard to the church, to "go after other gods” is equivalent to embracing 'false doctrines.' This shows there is no vindication that trumps what is written. Even if a sign or wonder were to come to pass perfectly, it would not serve to verify one’s doctrine is true. It is for a test to see if one loves God and will be faithful to what is written. More precisely, there is no post-apostolic era vindication because there is nothing to vindicate because the canon is complete. Now, every man must take heed that the doctrines which he preaches (as well as consents to; believes) answer to those set forth by Jesus and his Holy Apostles. Therefore even the claim that God has vindicated one’s teaching (or themselves) by signs or wonders is enough to prove the claim false because it is contrary to what is written.
